FAQs

What is CBD?

CBD (short for cannabidiol) is a naturally-derived compound from the cannabis plant. CBD is a part of a larger group of chemicals called cannabinoids. Unlike the psychoactive cannabinoid THC, CBD is not mind-altering and won’t get you high or sedated. Many people opt to use CBD to harness the effects of the cannabis plant without the intoxicating and dependence-producing effects of THC.

How much CBD should I take?

Dosing is specific to each individual, and if you are new to CBD we recommend starting low (like 10mg per day) and working your way up as needed. The onset of effects will vary depending on your metabolism, the dose, and the formula. Certain effects are acute while others can take up to a month before noticing.

Where does CBD oil come from?

CBD is derived from cannabis through a process of drying and oil extraction. Reform Botanicals’ CBD Oil comes from the hemp plant, a variety of cannabis that contains less than 0.3% THC (the legal limit). We use 100% USDA Certified Organic and U.S. grown hemp sourced from small farmers in Vermont.

Often, CBD oil is extracted at high temperatures and pressures that require the use of ethanol and potentially harmful chemicals to “clean” the resulting oil and filter out undesirable fats and waxes from the hemp plant. At Reform Botanicals, our oils are crafted in a slower, gentler process that allows for minimal processing and the exclusion of ethanol. Although it takes more time and patience, the undesirable plant components remain stored in the plant and we are left with a cleaner final product for our customers to enjoy.

Is CBD effective?

CBD is showing up all over the place because of the way it acts on our bodies and minds. Some claims can be a bit outlandish, like curing cancer, so be mindful of which claims are backed by science and which claims are misinformation. You can read more about the ways in which CBD can affect your body on our blog.

Is CBD Safe?

Some common side effects of CBD include nausea, drowsiness, and dry mouth. However, everyone is different and CBD can affect each of us in different ways depending on metabolism, other medications you may be taking, and a variety of other factors. Therefore, it is important to be able to identify high-quality CBD, to know what dosage is right for you, and to be aware of the potential side effects that you may come across.

Will CBD show up on my drug test?

CBD will not test positive on a drug test since most testing sites are not looking for CBD in your system. Instead, a drug test is likely to look for THC since that is the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana varieties of cannabis.

Some cannabis products contain both THC and CBD. So, read labels carefully to ensure that the product you purchase has the amount of THC you feel comfortable consuming.

If you consume Reform Botanicals' CBD, there's a risk of testing positive because we only sell full-spectrum CBD.

Our CBD oil is crafted from full-spectrum hemp extracts, which carry small traces of THC (less than 0.3%). This amount of THC is not enough to have intoxicating effects or make you feel high.

If you are seeking THC-free CBD (products that contain less than 0.3% THC), look for third-party tested products that offer certificates of analysis (COAs). COAs break down lab results and provide transparent ingredient compositions. You can find COAs for all of our products on our website.

It can be possible to test positive for THC after consuming CBD products for various reasons. Your body may metabolize CBD in a way that produces a false positive for THC. Or, the product can be falsely advertised or mislabeled since CBD is currently unregulated by the FDA. To avoid purchasing unwanted ingredients, look for COAs and third-party testing. We advise you to use discretion when using CBD products.
